Fabiola da Silva (Inline): Perhaps the most widely recognized athlete on inline skates, Fabiola has everything: looks, brains and raw talent. From 1996 to 2001, she picked up six X Games gold medals. In 2002, her skating skill forced the inline industry to rethink the entire structure of vert competition. Now, she competes with the men and almost always finishes in the top ten. In 2005, she became the first woman to pull a double back flip, a trick that only a handful of men can do. Not only can Fabiola compete at the highest level on the half pipe, she also puts together gutsy park course lines. Fabiola has appeared on MTV's Switched and Jimmy Kimmel Live and she is currently in negotiation with a Hollywood production company who wants to make a movie out of her life. A true ambassador for women in sports and for skating as a whole, Fabiola continues to push her limits. Inline skating never looked so good! Danny Mayer (Skateboarder): Danny is a veteran pro vert skateboarder who is originally from Omaha Nebraska, but now calls San Diego California his home. Danny is best known for his technical wizardry when it comes to best trick competitions. These skills have earned him top spots at many best trick events. He received a silver medal at the Gravity Games in vert best trick in 2003, the following year he received a bronze in best trick at the X-Games. He was also the overall best trick champion in 2003 and 2004 on the Mobile Skatepark Series. To this day, Danny has invented his own move called the “Nightmare Air”, he is one of 3 skateboarders in the world who has ever landed a “kickflip mctwist”, and is currently the only skateboarder in the world who has ever landed a “kickflip varial mctwist”. Tas Pappas (Skateboarder): Tas is one half of the infamous “Pappas brothers” who ruled vertical skateboarding in the 90’s. Tas was the world champion in 1996, beating out Tony Hawk that season. This was a career high that Tas would not enjoy again until 2006. He took top honors at the LG Action Sports World Championships in Dallas TX last October, even after suffering a severely sprained left ankle. That’s just one example of this skateboarders do or die attitude. In 2004 he fractured a vertebrae in his lower back, but it did not keep him off his board, ever. Tas is one of the few vert skateboarders in the world who can pull a “720”, something he does regularly at competitions. Anthony Furlong (Skateboarder): Anthony Furlong is one of the most consistent skateboarders in the vertical ranks these days. His smooth style, and ability to stay on his board, keep him regularly in the top ten at competitions. In addition to being a pro skateboarder, Anthony also rides freestyle motocross, and has competed at several “celebrity races” over the past few years. He has been ranked in the top 10 on the world tour, the last several years. When not on the road competeing or performing in shows, Anthony can be found as an instructor at Camp Woodward, or back home in Tampa playing with his dogs. Dave Voelker (BMX): To say that Dave Voelker is a legend in the world of BMX, would be an understatement. He has been a professional rider longer than most pros have been alive. Dave’s style has helped pave the way for what is now known as modern day street riding. He was also one of the very first BMX pros to have an action figure made in his likeness. In addition to being a legend in the sport, Dave is also one of the best showmen out there. He gives 110 percent whether it’s a crowd of 20,000 at an NBA game, or 50 school kids at his sons elementary school. Dave was born and raised in the San Diego area, and still resides there to this day with his son Colton, and daughter Katie. He is a former X-Games bronze medalist (BMX park 1997), and a former world champion. Gabe Weed (BMX Flatland): Gabe has been riding flatland for over 20 years. Over the last few years, the art of flatland BMX has somewhat gone “underground” as far as competitions go, but Gabe has kept it alive and well through shows. Gabe received his first pro contract in the 90’s with GT Bicycles, and it took him across the U.S. , performing at a wide variety of venues. From fair shows, to bike shops, to NBA halftime shows, even a show at a prison for the criminally insane, Gabe has seen it all. He is a veteran of the got milk? Gravity Tour, and 2007 will be his 5th year performing on the tour. Gabe currently resides in Reno Nevada, where he owns and operates Openground Skatepark with his wife Erin. Tom Haugen (BMX): Tom Haugen is what’s known as an “overall rider” in the BMX industry. You name it, he can ride it. Flatland, mini ramps, dirt, street, park, vert, he rides it all, and rides it all well. Tom first made his mark in the pro ranks by proving himself as a top street/park contender. In 2003 Tom decided to take on vert riding full time as well as street, and in the last 3 years has proven himself to be a podium threat in yet another aspect of his sport. In addition to competitions, Tom has traveled the world performing in a wide variety of demos. Tom is also a few credits shy of his teaching degree, and plans to fall back on that as a career when his pro career is over. Jason Davies (BMX): Jason is a long time vertical competitor in the world of BMX. Vert is his specialty, and he makes it look easy, almost too easy. Originally from Bristol England, Jason relocated to the United States over a decade ago, to pursue his riding career full time. He is known for his smoothness and consistency when it comes to competitions, and for doing a wide variety of tricks during his runs. Jason decided to retire from competitions several years ago, and now focuses mainly on show riding. He is a former 2 time world champion, and also a former X-Games bronze medalist. Jason now resides in Phoenix Arizona, where he works part time as a carpenter in the off season. In 2006, he successfully passed the U.S. citizenship test, and traded in his red British passport for a blue U.S. one. Rob Nolli (BMX): Rob is one of the most talented BMX riders out there. Just name any discipline of BMX and he will ride it, and probably show you a year end title or trophy from that discipline in years past. Rob spends most of his time doing shows these days, and sometimes judges competitions, but don’t be fooled. At any moment he could slap on the pads, and still hold his own in any competition. Rob is sort of a “kid at heart”. When not riding his bike, hes usually playing pranks on his friends while on the road, or at home he can be seen doing burnouts in the neighborhood in his Corvette, or Monte Carlo Super Sport. Marc Englehart (Inline): Marc is a dominating force in the world of inline vert skating. You wouldn’t know it by talking to him, because he is a very quiet person, who lets his skating speak for himself. In 2002 at the Gravity Games, Marc made inline vert history by being the only American inline vert skater to have taken a gold medal at that event, as well as one of the few skaters in the world to have successfully beaten the Yasutoko brothers. Marc is most widely known for doing his airs and variations at impressive heights, and for his spin moves. He can easily throw down 900’s and 1080’s at will, and is very very close to becoming the first skater ever to land a 1440 (4 complete rotations in one trick). In 2006 at the LG Action Sports World Championships, Marc missed the title of world champion by just one spot, taking home the silver medal. He has been ranked in the top 5 on the world tour, for the last 5 years. Daveee Blair (Emcee): Daveee has been rollerblading since 1996. Since 2001 he has been announcing most major events in the rollerblading industry. Originally from Las Vegas, he left a promising future in basketball to pursue his passion for rolling sports. For the past several years he has traveled the world following his love of skating and in 2002 became the team manager for two of the major skate brands in the industry, USD Skates and Deshi Skates. In addition Daveee is part of the marketing might behind the clothing brand “Franco Shade”. |
